ABOUT
Katerina
MVDr. Ing. Katerina Clarke MRCVS, GPCert (WVA&CPM)
Katerina is a director of and a vet at Point of Care, mobile veterinary clinic.
She studied simultaneously master degrees in agriculture and in veterinary science in two different universities and graduated as an Engineer of Agriculture (Ing.) from the University of South Bohemia in Ceske Budejovice, Czech Republic in 2001 and then in 2003 as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (MVDr.) from the Pharmaceutical and Veterinary University in Brno, Czech Republic.
After graduation Katerina moved to London to learn English. She volunteered in one of the Village Vet branches in small animal practice for a couple of years. She also worked in the Celia Hammond Animal Trust for short time before an opportunity to leave the big city behind came up, and she moved and started work as a full time vet in the Isle of Man in 2006.
Working full time in one of the practices here allowed her to gain enough experience before deciding to focus on something more specific. An idea to provide the island with a fully equipped mobile veterinary clinic was formed shortly after her son was born in 2012. She took advantage of multiple opportunities to further her knowledge in running a business and incorporate alternative disciplines into veterinary practice whilst still working as a locum vet. She now holds a general practitioner certificate in western veterinary acupuncture and chronic pain management (GPCert(WVA&CPM)) and she is also a certified Animal Dorn Method (ADM) therapist. Katerina is very interested in holistic approach to veterinary medicine. She is currently studying a postgraduate certificate of Advanced Veterinary Practitioner in mixed practice.
She is married to Simon Clarke, has an eleven year old son Timmy and has three cats - Pasha and rescues Sherbert and Tango and a briard called Charleigh Cluffy. In her free time she loves spend time with her family here and back in the Czech Republic, walking, swimming and reading a good relaxing book. She is also a member of Sulby Badminton Club and a trustee of Jurby and Northern Community Initiatives charity.
